TradeCopia · A Fork in the Road
The Copy-Trading Plan
The manual method — a MacBook, iPhone, and iMac running at once, alternating live between accounts by hand — got the job done through two evals, but it was never going to scale, and it introduced real human error under pressure. This page is the full, current record of what replaced it: TradeCopia, the account structure behind it, the compliance research that reshaped that structure twice, and the risk-limit decisions that came out of it.
Grouped by leader, matched on account size and firm-policy compatibility first — not by drawdown mechanic. Both groups have been restructured at least once since the original plan, each time for a real reason, documented here rather than smoothed over.
| Group | Leader | Followers | Why this shape |
|---|---|---|---|
| A — Strict News Discipline | LucidFlex25 (25K) | TPT (50K, 2x multiplier), LegendsTrading (50K, 2x multiplier) | Flipped from TPT-led to Lucid-led once a micro-contract sizing habit stopped scaling cleanly under TPT. LegendsTrading joined as a second follower Sep 25, 2026.
|
| B — TopOne Derived | TOF197288 (TopOne Elite ACCESS, 50K) | TOF197292, Apex-11, Apex-12, TOF218430, TOF218431 (all 50K, 1x) | Rebuilt from a mismatched-size TopOne→Lucid pairing (a policy violation) into same-size-only TOF-to-TOF/TOF-to-Apex copying. Now 5 followers.

Named "TopOne Derived" specifically to honor TOF's own policy language — "trade decisions must originate from activity on our platform." Full account-by-account rationale: Scaling SOP doc ↗
Every firm's copy-trading stance is different, and none of it was assumed — each was fetched or asked directly before the structure above was finalized
The six settings originally asked for, mapped to what TradeCopia actually exposes — five per-group toggles, plus a personal daily-loss ceiling applied to all six accounts
- Prevent hedging ONCaps a follower's order at its existing position size — never flips it into a reversed direction. Only covers Market-order flips through flat; a Stop/Limit reversal or fresh bracket entry isn't blocked by this alone.
- Position reconciler ONCorrects any follower fill that doesn't match the leader — entry or exit, regardless of cause. Recommended kept on by TradeCopia's own guide.
- Disable replication on breach OFFThe reconciler already corrects any mismatch on its own; this toggle's only added effect is silently pausing a follower's future, clean trades after one incident, until manually re-enabled. Given active monitoring is already the plan, the automatic pause costs more (missed trades) than it protects.
- Auto-close on leader-flat ONBrackets replicate as individual orders, not one linked group — this is the direct fix for a stale follower order surviving after the leader's TP or SL already closed it out.
- Flatten followers on cancel ONSame cleanup, triggered by a cancel rather than a fill — covers the other path to a clean, flat leader state.
- Daily Loss limit — $555, all six accounts Personal ruleStarted at $600 — "so I never lose more than $600 in a day again" — then revised down once the question became would this actually have saved the account, not just felt safe. LucidFlex25's real firm DLL is $600; a self-imposed limit at that exact value leaves no margin between the trigger and the flatten order actually filling — the same gap that took a 100K Apex Static account previously. $555 became the number for every account, not just Lucid, for consistency.

Everything above was reasoned through before going live. This is what actually happened once real trading started — corrections, not theory.
- The reconciler has a standalone-follower exceptionTopOneFutures force-closes at 16:10 ET, well ahead of Apex's own ~16:59 ET window. Once the Group B leader (TOF197288) is flat for the day, the Position reconciler reads any new position opened directly on Apex-11/Apex-12 as a mismatch and force-exits it — even though those accounts still have legitimate trading time left. Trading a follower on its own once its leader is done for the day requires toggling the reconciler off for that group first — or, the safer version learned since: pull the account out of the group entirely (TPT and LegendsTrading have both been removed from Group A this way, rather than just toggled off within it) when the plan is to trade through news on purpose. Accounts also get swapped in and out of groups live as needed — e.g. copying only Apex-12 without TopOne for a stretch — a more flexible pattern than the on/off toggle alone.
- Toggling it off mid-session doesn't do what it might seem toTested live during a Friday news window, believing the reconciler needed to be off to manually flatten TPT during its news blackout while leaving LucidFlex25 open. It didn't — manually flattening one account directly on the broker never required that. Turning it back on afterward surfaced the real risk it guards against instead: a leader's fill landing without a matching follower fill, unnoticed, on a trailing-drawdown account.
- The groups got renamed into fail-safesGroup B grew to 5 followers Sep 15 (TOF218430/TOF218431, a second BOGO+20%-off TopOne pair), and LegendsTrading (won via a KnightTrader giveaway) joined Group A as a second follower Sep 25. Around the same time, both groups' in-app names were rewritten from generic labels into compressed fail-safe reminders of the actual trading rules — see the Structure table above for the literal current wording and what it does and doesn't fully capture.
- A follower can get flattened before its own deadlineLucidFlex must be flat by 16:45 ET; TPT's own deadline is 16:55 ET. Because TPT follows LucidFlex25 in Group A, "Auto-close follower positions" flattens TPT the moment its leader goes flat — ten minutes before TPT's own firm would actually require it. TradeCopia's per-group Disable control may decouple this; not yet tested live.
- A rough Friday, logged honestlyNews-window trading went well. The close didn't — adjusting the reconciler and risk numbers live while trying to recover a TPT drawdown made both TPT and LucidFlex25 slightly worse instead of better. Limited real damage, risk stayed managed, but it broke a green streak and was a genuinely humbling day. In hindsight, stopping entirely after the first loss would have been the better call than trying to actively fix it live. Sep 9 update: came close to needing the same fix again — a trade sat deep enough in drawdown to seriously consider raising the Daily Loss limit for room — but a burst of volatility brought every account back to green without touching a single setting that time. The real lesson: don't let one trade's drawdown pull every mirrored account down together like that again. Leaning toward keeping the Lucid-led group's risk tighter than TopOne's going forward, since TPT already carries a 2x multiplier and Lucid has the small firm DLL — this particular day mirrored full size on both groups at once.

Same-size compliance isn't the only constraint behind Group A/B's shape — a follower with a lower max-contract ceiling than what's being mirrored to it simply fails to execute. The leader in each group needs headroom at or above its followers'.
| Account | Eval scaling | Funded ceiling |
|---|---|---|
| TopOneFutures 50K (Group B leader) | Same tiers apply in eval | $0–$1,499: 1 mini/10 micros · $1,500–$1,999: 2 minis/20 micros · $2,000+: 3 minis/30 micros (full) |
| Apex 50K (Group B followers) | No scaling plan | 3 minis/30 micros max, capped at half until EOD balance clears initial + trailing DD + $100 |
| TakeProfitTrader 50K (Group A follower) | No scaling, ever | Flat 6 contracts/60 micros, always |
| LucidFlex 25K (Group A leader) | No scaling plan | $0–$999: 1 mini/10 micros · $1,000–$1,999: 2 minis/20 micros (25K tier tops out here) |
Top1 (leader) always has contract headroom at or above Apex (follower); LucidFlex25 (leader, 1-2 minis at 25K) leading into TPT (follower, flat 6 always) means the follower's ceiling is never the constraint either — confirming both groups' leader-from-the-smaller-or-matched account shape holds up on scaling, not just the size-compliance and whole-number-multiplier reasoning above. The account ledger on the gallery page carries its own subtitle: "what once looked like a graveyard is a resurrection project." That's not a figure of speech — the recovery arc starts Feb 13, 2026, with a blowup and no rule held. Everything since has been rebuilding discipline one rule at a time.
TradeCopia's Daily Loss enforcement is the first automated backstop for a failure mode personal discipline alone has never fully covered: being physically unable to close a trade in time, whether from a mental-stop habit or a power/internet failure removing the ability to execute manually. Not a replacement for discipline — the next layer on top of it.
