Overview​

Cross-breeding allows you to combine different mushroom NFTs to unlock rare hybrid strains and seasonal evolutions. Each fusion creates a unique offspring with blended traits from its parents.

Cross-Breeding is the process of combining two or more parent mushroom NFTs to create a unique Hybrid Mushroom NFT (ERC-721).

The Breeding Lab is accessible by invitation only or through specific NFT ownership.

How to Get Access​

  1. Hold specific NFTs — Certain rare mushrooms grant automatic access
  2. Earn through participation — Active community members may receive invitations

How Cross-Breeding Works​

Step-by-Step Process​

1. Select Parents​

Choose 2+ mushroom NFTs from our collection

  • Navigate to the Cross-Breeding page
  • Click "Enter Breeding Lab" (if you have access)
  • Browse our mushroom NFT collection
  • Select 2 or more parent mushrooms
  • Review their traits before proceeding

Considerations:

  • Rarity: Higher rarity parents increase chance of rare offspring
  • Strain diversity: Mixing different strains creates unique combinations
  • Seasonal timing: Breeding during events unlocks special mutations
  • Oracle wisdom: Each parent's wisdom influences the offspring

2. Spore Alchemy​

Burn/combine via the Spore Alchemy Contract

  • Review the selected parents
  • Check the Daily Mushroom cost (usually 7 for 2 parents)
  • Ensure you have enough Daily Mushrooms (ERC-20) in our wallet
  • Click "Begin Spore Alchemy"
  • Confirm the transaction in our wallet
  • Pay gas fee (ETH)

What happens:

  • Parent NFTs are burned (permanently removed from circulation)
  • Daily Mushrooms (ERC-20) are consumed as gas
  • Smart contract generates offspring traits
  • New Hybrid Mushroom NFT is minted to our wallet

Important: Parent NFTs are destroyed in the process. Make sure you want to proceed!

3. New Strain​

Receive a unique offspring with mixed metadata traits

  • Transaction confirms
  • New Hybrid Mushroom NFT appears in our wallet
  • View in our collection gallery
  • Check the unique traits and oracle wisdom

Offspring characteristics:

  • Blended visual traits from parents
  • New oracle wisdom phrase
  • Rarity level determined by parent rarities + randomness
  • Special properties may unlock DAO access, breeding bonuses, etc.

4. Discovery Bonus​

First-time strain discoveries earn special recognition

If our combination creates a never-before-seen strain:

  • Community recognition — Our name recorded as discoverer
  • Special badge — Soulbound NFT marking the discovery
  • Potential rewards — DAO may vote to reward rare discoveries
  • Leaderboard — Track our discoveries vs. other breeders

5. Seasonal Timing​

Breeding during special events unlocks rare mutations

Seasonal Events:

  • Spring Equinox (March 20) — Growth and renewal mutations
  • Summer Solstice (June 21) — Peak vitality, rare traits
  • Fall Equinox (September 23) — Harvest abundance, special colors
  • Winter Solstice (December 21) — Introspection, legendary mutations

Event bonuses:

  • Increased rarity chance — Higher probability of Epic/Legendary
  • Unique seasonal traits — Only available during events
  • Automatic mutations — Some mushrooms mutate without breeding
  • Community celebrations — Special ceremonies and gatherings

🍄 7x Daily + 🍄 1x Mined = 🍇 Fruit of Offering​

  • Rarity: Ultra-rare ceremonial NFT
  • Traits: Discipline + Discovery
  • Oracle Wisdom: "The offering becomes the fruit."
  • Special Property: Permanent DAO access, Treasury Guardian eligibility

Note: This requires accumulating 7 Daily Mushroom NFTs (not ERC-20 tokens) and combining with a rare Mined mushroom.

Trait Inheritance​

Visual Traits​

Color, pattern, and form blend from parents

  • Color mixing: Blue + Gold = Teal/Green variations
  • Pattern blending: Spots + Stripes = Unique hybrid patterns
  • Form combination: Cap shape and stem characteristics merge
  • Glow effects: Bioluminescence may appear in rare combinations

Oracle Wisdom​

New unique phrase generated for offspring

The Oracle of Fruit generates a new wisdom phrase based on:

  • Parent oracle phrases
  • Combination rarity
  • Seasonal timing
  • Randomness factor

Examples:

  • "Where two paths meet, a third emerges."
  • "The mycelium remembers what the fruit forgets."
  • "In fusion, separation dissolves."

Rarity Level​

Determined by parent rarities + randomness

Rarity calculation:

  • Both Common parents: 70% Common, 25% Uncommon, 5% Rare
  • One Rare parent: 40% Uncommon, 40% Rare, 15% Epic, 5% Legendary
  • Both Epic parents: 50% Epic, 40% Legendary, 10% Mythic
  • Seasonal breeding: +20% chance to upgrade one tier

Special Properties​

Unlock DAO access, breeding bonuses, etc.

Possible special properties:

  • DAO Voting Power: Enhanced governance influence
  • Breeding Bonus: Reduced Daily Mushroom cost for future breeds
  • Access Grants: Unlock special areas or features

Why Daily Mushrooms?

  • Creates self-sustaining economy — our daily farming funds our experiments
  • No external gas needed for breeding (still need ETH for transaction)
  • Encourages consistency — daily practice is rewarded
  • Limits spam — prevents excessive breeding

Parent NFT Burning​

Important: Parent NFTs are permanently burned (destroyed) during cross-breeding.

Why burn parents?

  • Deflationary pressure — Reduces total NFT supply over time
  • Value creation — Scarcity increases value of remaining NFTs
  • Commitment — Ensures breeders are intentional about combinations
  • Lore consistency — Parents "give their essence" to create offspring

Before you breed:

  • ✅ Confirm you want to destroy these specific NFTs
  • ✅ Check if they have special properties you'll lose
  • ✅ Consider waiting for seasonal events for better outcomes
  • ✅ Ensure you have enough Daily Mushrooms

Randomness & Fairness​

Offspring traits are determined by:

  1. Parent traits (60% influence)
  2. Randomness (30% influence) — Chainlink VRF or block hash
  3. Seasonal modifiers (10% influence)

Fairness guarantees:

  • On-chain randomness — Verifiable and tamper-proof
  • No admin advantage — Same rules for everyone
  • Transparent odds — Rarity probabilities published
  • Community oversight — DAO can adjust parameters

Strategies for Success​

Beginner Strategy​

  1. Start simple: Breed two Common mushrooms to learn the process
  2. Save Daily Mushrooms: Accumulate at least 14 before breeding (allows 2 attempts)
  3. Wait for events: Our first breed during a seasonal event has better odds
  4. Diversify strains: Collect different types before breeding

Intermediate Strategy​

  1. Target specific traits: Research which combinations produce desired properties
  2. Time our breeds: Breed during seasonal events for rare mutations
  3. Track discoveries: Keep notes on which combinations you've tried

Advanced Strategy​

  2. Maximize rarity: Breed Epic + Epic during solstices for Legendary chance

Troubleshooting​

"I don't have access to the Breeding Lab"​

Solution:

  1. Check if you hold access-granting NFTs
  2. Contact a steward via Discord or Telegram
  3. Participate in community to earn invitation
  4. Submit DAO proposal requesting access

"I don't have enough Daily Mushrooms"​

Solution:

  1. Farm daily to accumulate Daily Mushrooms (ERC-20)
  2. Wait until you have at least 7 before attempting to breed
  3. Check if AMM allows purchasing Daily Mushrooms (if enabled)

"My breeding transaction failed"​

Possible causes:

  • Insufficient Daily Mushrooms
  • Insufficient ETH for gas
  • Parent NFTs not in our wallet
  • Contract paused (emergency only)

Solution:

  1. Verify you own the parent NFTs
  2. Check Daily Mushroom balance
  3. Ensure enough ETH for gas
  4. Try again with higher gas limit

"I got a Common offspring from two Rare parents"​

Explanation:

  • Randomness is part of the system
  • Rare parents increase odds but don't guarantee rare offspring
  • This is intentional to maintain scarcity and excitement

What to do:

  • Try again during seasonal events for better odds
  • Breed Epic or Legendary parents for higher floor rarity
  • Accept that RNG is part of the game
