Overview​

The Sacred Altar is where you transform ETHO tokens into eternal offerings. Through the ceremonial burn, you:

  • Release tokens to the treasury (not destroyed — they fund community projects)
  • Receive a soulbound Proof of Burn NFT (permanent record of our offering)
  • Record our sacred intention on-chain
  • Contribute to the sacred economy (ceremonies, scholarships, real estate)
  • Earn spiritual merit and community recognition

What is Proof-of-Giving?​

Unlike traditional "Proof-of-Burn" where tokens are destroyed, Ethereal Offering uses Proof-of-Giving:

How It Works​

  1. Tokens Go to Treasury — Not destroyed, but transferred to community treasury
  2. Real Value Flows — Treasury holds real crypto (ETH, USDC, ETHO)
  3. Community Benefit — Funds ceremonies, scholarships, real estate, and projects
  4. Permanent Record — You receive a soulbound Proof of Burn NFT with our intention
  5. Sacred Exchange — You give, community receives, you gain spiritual merit

Why This Matters​

Traditional Proof-of-Burn:

  • Tokens are sent to a burn address (0x000...000)
  • Value is permanently destroyed
  • Creates deflationary pressure
  • No direct community benefit

Ethereal Offering Proof-of-Giving:

  • Tokens go to treasury (real wallet address)
  • Value is preserved and deployed
  • Creates community abundance
  • Direct funding for mission-aligned projects
  • You still receive the NFT proof

How to Make an Offering​

Step 1: Prepare​

Before you begin:

  1. Set our intention — What are you offering for? Healing? Gratitude? Community?
  2. Create sacred space — Light a candle, burn incense, or simply sit in stillness
  3. Ground yourself — Take three deep breaths, center our awareness
  4. Write our intention — Craft a clear, heartfelt message (will be recorded on-chain)

Intention examples:

  • "For the healing of all beings struggling with addiction"
  • "In gratitude for the gift of consciousness expansion"
  • "To support the sacred work of this community"
  • "For my own transformation and the transformation of the world"

Step 2: Navigate to the Sacred Altar​

  1. Go to the Sacred Altar page in the dApp
  2. Ensure our wallet is connected
  3. Check our ETHO balance (top right or in wallet)

Step 3: Enter Our Offering​

Burn Interface:

  • Amount to Burn (EOT): Enter the number of ETHO tokens
    • Minimum: Usually 100 ETHO (check current requirements)
    • Quick amounts may be available (100 / 500 / 1000 / 5000)
  • Sacred Intention (on-chain): Write our intention message
    • Maximum length: Usually 280 characters (like a tweet)
    • Will be permanently recorded on the blockchain
    • Choose our words carefully

Review before proceeding:

  • ✅ Amount is correct
  • ✅ Intention is heartfelt and clear
  • ✅ You have enough ETHO in our wallet
  • ✅ You have ETH for gas fees

Step 4: Confirm the Ritual​

  1. Click "🔥 Burn Offering" button
  2. Review the transaction in our wallet popup:
    • To: Altar contract address
    • Amount: ETHO tokens being transferred
    • Gas fee: ETH cost for transaction
  3. Speak our intention aloud (optional but powerful)
  4. Click "Confirm" in our wallet
  5. Wait for transaction confirmation (usually 15-60 seconds)

Step 5: Witness the Transformation​

What happens:

  1. ETHO tokens transfer from our wallet to the treasury
  2. Proof of Burn NFT mints to our wallet (ERC-721, soulbound)
  3. Intention records on-chain permanently
  4. Stats update — Total Burned, Proof NFTs Minted, Our Offerings

You will see:

  • Transaction success message
  • Our new Proof of Burn NFT in our collection
  • Updated offering statistics
  • Our offering appears in "Recent Offerings" feed

Step 6: Receive Our NFT​

Our Proof of Burn NFT contains:

  • Burn amount — How much ETHO you offered
  • Intention message — Our sacred words
  • Timestamp — Exact moment of offering
  • Tier — Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Legendary (based on amount)
  • Unique artwork — Visual representation of our offering
  • Soulbound status — Cannot be transferred or sold

  • View in the "Our Proof of Burn NFTs" gallery on the Altar page
  • Share on social media (optional)

During the Ritual​

As you click "Burn Offering":

  1. Enter the amount with reverence
  2. Speak our intention aloud (even if alone)
  3. Confirm the transaction as a sacred act
  4. Witness the transformation — watch the transaction confirm
  5. Receive the NFT with gratitude

Function: burnOffering(uint256 amount, string memory intention)

What it does:

  1. Transfers ETHO from our wallet to treasury address
  2. Mints a soulbound Proof of Burn NFT to our wallet
  3. Records intention message in NFT metadata
  4. Emits event for tracking and transparency

Treasury:

  • Multi-signature wallet controlled by DAO
  • Transparent on-chain tracking
  • Funds deployed via governance proposals

ProofOfBurn NFT (Soulbound):

  • ERC-721 standard with transfer restrictions
  • Cannot be sold or transferred (except burn)
  • Permanently tied to our wallet address
  • Metadata stored on IPFS/Arweave

Troubleshooting​

"I don't have enough ETHO"​

Solution:

"My transaction failed"​

Possible causes:

  • Insufficient ETHO balance
  • Insufficient ETH for gas
  • Intention message too long
  • Contract paused (emergency only)

Solution:

  2. Ensure you have ETH for gas fees
  3. Shorten our intention message
  4. Try again with higher gas limit

"I didn't receive my Proof of Burn NFT"​

Solution:

  1. Check our wallet's NFT section (may take a few minutes to appear)
  2. Verify transaction on block explorer (Etherscan)
  3. Refresh the Altar page
  4. Contact support if transaction succeeded but NFT missing

"Can I transfer or sell my Proof of Burn NFT?"​

No. Proof of Burn NFTs are soulbound — they cannot be transferred or sold. They are permanently tied to the wallet that made the offering.

  • Ensures authenticity of offerings
  • Maintains integrity of the system
  • Reflects the non-transferable nature of spiritual growth
